Automobiles in German Town Found Covered with Swastikas in Blood, Police Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Authorities stated they were alerted by a resident who noticed a car in Hanau marked with reddish fluid

Roughly 50 automobiles have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Vehicles, exterior walls and postboxes were marked, occasionally with swastikas, they announced in a official communication.

Law enforcement say they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a man noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish fluid.

The liquid had been applied in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they stated.

Police then found multiple other smeared vehicles and residential walls in the surrounding area.

Swastikas are illegal in Germany under legislation outlawing the public display of Nazi symbols.

Law enforcement say early analysis show the liquid was likely human bodily fluid.

"Currently there is no lead as to its origin; authorities are not yet aware of any injuries in association with the event," they added.

Municipal representatives announced they were trying "to solve the case" and have requested to the community for information.

A high-ranking political figure stated the incident made him speechless and needed to be addressed quickly.

"This incident hits the center of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the right-wing violent incident half a decade ago," he stated on social media, mentioning the murder of nine people by a shooter focusing on residents of immigrant origin in February 2020.
