19 of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard surfaces

A revitalized the Russian player won his initial championship for 882 days with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging season, achieving just one win at the big events and suffering a setback at the New York tournament.

His varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his serving in especial - led to him falling of the top ten and finally parting ways with former mentor his previous coach.

Presently training with his coach and his other coach, he has consistently progressed in the last few weeks - culminating in a tightly fought competitive triumph over challenger Moutet.

This represents his initial championship after the Rome competition and first on a hardcourt from March of 2023.

The win also indicates he has achieved twenty-one championships at 21 distinct events.

"For the first time I have attended a tournament with my children at once, so to win a title is especially meaningful," commented world number 14 the champion.

"This victory is in honour of my second daughter her name, because the first title I achieved when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had failed in his past six finals, including in Halle in the past months.

Medvedev's retrieving approach and recurring reactions on the playing surface had prompted commentators to wonder if his skill to perform at the highest level was finished.

But the player has implemented adjustments in the past month, making an effort to approach the net and play aggressively, supported by an enhanced serving game.

He came back from a disadvantage in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, securing four of the final five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The pair swapped breaks in the following set before the challenger, striving for his maiden tour title, took control to create a decider.

He saved 4 early chances in a tight deciding set before Medvedev broke to 15 to serve for the match.

Suitably, the winner clinched the win with a point at the net, with the Frenchman failing to manage a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
